Scene Setter
After four-straight games away from home in three different states, the North Dakota State women's basketball team returns to the Scheels Center on Sunday, Dec. 2, to face the UMKC Roos. It is the first of a pair of games at home before hitting the road for three-straight.
UMKC Series History
The Bison hold a 7-6 lead in the all-time series that dates back to an 80-62 NDSU win in Fargo on Jan. 19, 2008. The two teams last met on Jan. 31, 2013, a 62-60 UMKC win in Kansas City. The Roos are a former member of The Summit League and now compete in the WAC. The Bison are 6-9 all-time against members of the WAC.

Last Time Out
Sophomore Michelle Gaislerova scored a career-high 30 points against Northern Illinois Wednesday, but it wasn't enough as the Huskies beat the North Dakota State women's basketball team 81-63 at the NIU Convocation Center.
The Bison held an early 9-8 lead with 6:30 to play in the first quarter on seven points from Gaislerova. A jumper by Myia Starks with 6:20 left in the opening frame sparked a 16-3 NIU run over a 4:27 span. The Huskies held a 26-15 lead after the first quarter.
Gaislerova cut the lead to eight with 7:52 to play in the second quarter, but a layup by Ally May started a 7-0 run that pushed the NIU lead to double digits for the remainder of the game. The Huskies led 43-28 at the break.
NIU pushed the lead to 28 points with 7:30 to play in the game on a layup by May. NDSU held the Huskies to just six points in the final seven minutes of the game while going on a 16-6 run.
The Bison were 26-of-62 (41.9%) from the field and 7-of-17 (41.2%) from 3-point range. Northern Illinois was 31-of-74 (41.9%) from the floor and 11-of-36 (30.6%) from downtown. The Bison were 4-of-8 at the free throw line, while the Huskies were 8-of-12 at the charity stripe. Northern Illinois had the advantage in specialty stats in points off turnovers (22-2), points in the paint (38-26), fast break points (25-4) and bench points (27-7). NDSU had a 47-35 advantage in rebounds, including 14 offensive rebounds.
Gaislerova finished with a game-high 30 points, scoring in double figures for the seventh time this season. Tyrah Spencer joined her in double figures with 11 points, while Rylee Nudell added six points. Courtney Woods led the Huskies with 25 points. Spencer had a game-high 12 rebounds, giving her a career-high on the glass and her first career double-double. Marina Fernandez and Danneka Voegeli each had eight rebounds. Spencer had a game-high four assists, while Nudell and Cirkeline Rimdal each had three assists, a career-high for Rimdal.
Mixing It Up
Nine different players have seen action in four games, with eight of them playing at least 25 minutes. The Bison have tallied 25 different lineups with the nine players. NDSU has used eight different lineups for at least 10 minutes. The combination of Rylee Nudell, Michelle Gaislerova, Tyrah Spencer, Marina Fernandez and Reagan Heun has outscored opponents 9-4 in 1:48 of action, the highest plus advantage for the Bison this year. In 25 minutes off the bench, Heun has an even plus/minus score in four games played. Nudell has the highest plus rating of the year, as the Bison were +12 in her 33 minutes against New Hampshire.

Michelle Gaislerova and Tyrah Spencer have played all 40 minutes in four of the seven games this season. In the other three, Gaislerova has played 33, 38 and 36 minutes, while Spencer tallied minutes of 30, 37 and 23. They both played all 40 against Mayville State, Wisconsin, Pacific and Northern Illinois.

2018-19 NDSU Women's Basketball Captains Announced
Rylee Nudell, Tyrah Spencer and Marina Fernandez have been voted team captains for the Bison for the upcoming 2018-19 season. This is the second year that Spencer has been voted a captain.
Bison Sign Two on National Signing Day
NDSU announced the signing of high school standouts, Nicole Scales and Olivia Skibiel, to a National Letter of Intent to attend NDSU and play basketball starting in the fall of 2019. Scales is a 5-9 guard from Park Ridge, Ill., while Skibiel is a 6-1 guard/forward from Snohomish, Wash. In 31 games last season, Scales averaged a team-best 12.4 points per game. She also owns the Maine South single-season record for 3-pointers in a season with 80 and highest free throw percentage (47-of-59 – 80%).Skibiel averaged 18.9 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game as a junior. She was 69-of-80 (86%) at the free throw line during junior season.
NDSU Women's Basketball Picked Seventh In Summit League Preseason Poll
The North Dakota State Bison women's basketball team was voted seventh in the Summit League preseason poll released by the league office. South Dakota State was tabbed the preseason favorite with 24 first-place votes, while South Dakota was picked second with the remaining nine first-place votes. The Summit League finished 12th out of 32 conferences in RPI last season.
MidcoSN to Televise Every NDSU Women's Basketball Home Game in 2018-19
Midco has announced that all 14 NDSU home games during the 2018-19 season will be broadcast live on Midco Sports Network. All games will either be on MidcoSN or MidcoSN2. In addition, all home games will be covered by ESPN+ or ESPN3. Road games at Omaha (Jan. 6), South Dakota State (Jan. 23), North Dakota (Feb. 7) and South Dakota (Feb. 28) will also be on the Midco Sports Network.
On the Horizon
The Bison will be back home next Sunday, Dec. 9, as they face Milwaukee. After the two home games, NDSU hits the road for road games at Valparaiso and the Hatter Classic in DeLand, Fla.

- Sophomore Michelle Gaislerova scored a career-high 30 points in the loss at Northern Illinois on Wednesday. Gaislerova was 13-of-19 from the field and 4-of-6 from 3-point range. She has now scored in double figures in all seven games this season.
- Junior Tyrah Spencer recorded her first career double-double against Northern Illinois earlier this week. She tallied a career-high 12 rebounds, while adding 11 points. She also had four assists.
- Four players scored in double figures for the third time this season in the loss to North Texas. The Bison also had four players in double figures against Mayville State and New Hampshire.
- Senior Marina Fernandez scored a career-high 20 points in the loss against the Mean Green. It was the first 20 point game of the year for a Bison player.
- Gaislerova has played all 20 minutes of the second half in five of NDSU's six games this season. She only played 13 minutes against Creighton in the second half.
- Spencer scored a career-high 19 points in the loss to Pacific. She was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field, with three of those coming from long range.
- The Bison assisted on 13 of their 24 made field goals against Pacific.
- NDSU turned the ball over a season-high 22 times against the Tigers. Pacific turned the 22 turnovers into 31 of their 75 points, while also scoring 20 points from offensive rebounds.
- In the 64-53 loss at Wisconsin, the Bison and Badgers were tied at 15 after the first quarter. NDSU led for 5:37 of the opening frame, while the Badgers led for 2:12.
Scouting UMKC
- The Roos are 1-5 overall after defeating Peru State (NAIA) on Thursday night. UMKC played its first four games on the road, with two of them coming against Big 12 foes Kansas (L, 67-55) and Kansas State (L, 61-50). The Roos also faced a Summit League school in Denver, with the Pioneers winning 92-75.
- The Roos rank 21st in the nation in offensive rebounds with 18 per game. Leilah Vigil has 23 offensive boards on the year, while Ericka Mattingly has grabbed 15. Vigil ranks 58th with 9.7 total rebounds per game.
- Freshman Emily Ivory nailed a career high seven three-pointers and scored 21 points in the home opener against George Mason last Friday. With her performance, Ivory now sits in the top five for 3-point field goal percentage (37.9) in the WAC.
- Mattingly had a triple-double against Peru State on Thursday, becoming the eighth NCAA Division I player this year to record one. She tallied 15 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.
