AMES, Iowa – The North Dakota State men's basketball team put together a 19-2 run in the second half at Iowa State Monday night, but the Cyclones prevailed with an 81-59 victory at Hilton Coliseum.
Iowa State senior Marial Shayok led all players with 20 points. The Bison were led by 13 points from sophomore forward Rocky Kreuser, as well as 10 points and five rebounds by junior forward Deng Geu.
Iowa State (7-1 overall) shot 50 percent for the game, with NDSU hitting on 36.5 percent of its shots.
The Cyclones used a 16-0 run to open up their lead, scoring the final eight points of the first half and the first eight points of the second half. The Bison saw a 35-27 deficit turn into a 51-27 Iowa State advantage.
After falling behind 72-39 with just over nine minutes remaining, the Bison scored 19 of the game's next 21 points to cut the deficit to 74-58 with 3:59 on the clock.
The rebounding battle was a 37-37 tie. Vinnie Shahid added nine points for NDSU, and Tyson Ward had eight.
NDSU returns home to host Eastern Washington on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. inside the Scheels Center.
