FARGO, N.D. – Denver University defeated North Dakota State 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 16-25, 25-19) in a Summit League match played Sunday, Oct. 13, before 598 in the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.

The Bison (7-11, 2-4 SL) are scheduled to play at North Dakota (10-7, 2-3 SL) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in Grand Forks. UND lost 3-1 to South Dakota State on Sunday in Brookings.

North Dakota State rebounded after dropping the first two sets against Denver (11-6, 3-2 SL) to take the third in convincing fashion. The Bison jumped out to an early lead and didn't allow the Pioneers closer than six points.

Alexis Bachmeier had 6 of her final 14 kills
Syra Tanchin added 4 of her match-high 14 kills in the third, while
Allie Mauch,
Emily Halverson,
Kalli Hegerle and
Bella Lien also contributed at the net.
Kelley Johnson and
Kaylee Hanger both had service aces

However, the Pioneers pulled away from a 5-5 tie and built a 16-9 lead in the fourth set. NDSU did close to within 19-16 on kills from Tanchin and Halverson, and combination block from Bachmeier and Halverson, but couldn't come any closer.

Denver outhit NDSU .248 to .203 and recorded 12 service aces compared to two for the Bison. Both teams finished with nine team blocks.

Halverson claimed nine kills, hit .533 and equaled Lien with four blocks. Tanchin hit .357 and added four blocks. Johnson and Hegerle combined for 42 assists and 16 digs, while
Kaylee Hanger came up with 13 digs and
Abbi Klos added 10 digs.

Macy Carrabine finished with four aces and 12 digs, while Amanda Green had a team-high 13 kills and three aces. Lydia Bartalo and Katie Mahoney each had 10 kills, and Lorrin Poulter and Ellie Anderson combined for 42 assists and 14 digs. Tina Boe notched a match-high five blocks, while Brianna Green added four.
