The Summit League champion North Dakota State women's cross country team will travel to Stillwater, Okla., to compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Oklahoma State on Friday, Nov. 15.
The women's six-kilometer race will begin at 10:30 a.m. at OSU Cross Country Course, with the men's 10k to follow at 11:30 a.m.
The NCAA Midwest Regional will feature runners from 35 teams spanning nine states (Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota). The Bison women placed 17th as a team last season.
A total of 31 teams will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 23. The top two teams at each of the nine regional meets automatically qualify, leaving 13 at-large bids. The selection process looks at each team's performance over the course of the season, along with their finish at the NCAA Regional.
Individually, 38 additional athletes per gender will qualify and the top four runners at each regional not on a qualifying team will automatically be selected.
Bison junior Kelby Anderson will enter the meet with her sights locked on an NCAA Championships bid after placing ninth in the Midwest Regional last season and barely missing an at-large berth. Anderson's performance last year was the third top-10 finish ever by a Bison woman at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
The NDSU women are ranked 13th in the Midwest Region after claiming the Summit League team championship in Fargo on Nov. 2.
