Northern Iowa Series History
The Panthers own a 5-1 lead in the all-time series that dates to a 77-73 Northern Iowa victory in Fargo on Nov. 14, 2008. The Bison are 1-2 all-time in Cedar Falls, with the victory coming on Nov. 13, 2009. NDSU is 4-16 all-time against schools from the Missouri Valley, earning a 51-48 victory at Valparaiso last season.

The North Dakota State women's basketball team outscored Minnesota-Crookston 49-18 in the second half on Friday night, as the Bison beat the Golden Eagles 88-51 in exhibition play.
It was the first time on the floor for the Bison under new head coach Jory Collins. Freshman Ryan Cobbins led the Bison with a game-high 18 points, while adding six rebounds and two steals. The Bison outscored the Golden Eagles by 30 points while Cobbins was on the floor. Emily Dietz added 16 points and nine rebounds, while blocking three shots. Cirkeline Rimdal and Nicole Scales joined Cobbins and Dietz in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively. Sofija Zivaljevic had seven assists and six rebounds.
Dietz started the scoring early in the contest, taking a pass from Rylee Nudell for a layup just :18 into the game. NDSU led 20-12 after the first quarter. The Golden Eagles outscored NDSU 21-19 in the second quarter, as NDSU took a 39-33 lead at the break.
A 3-pointer by Michelle Gaislerova with 9:11 to play in the third quarter started an 8-0 run for the Bison to open the second half, extending the lead to 47-33 on a layup by Raquel Terrer van Gool. The Bison outscored Minnesota-Crookston 23-10 in the third quarter.
It was all NDSU in the fourth quarter, extending the lead to 39 with 1:01 to play while winning the quarter 26-8. The Bison held the Golden Eagles without a basket in the final 4:48 of the game.
The Bison were 34-of-61 (55.7%) from the field and 6-of-14 (42.9%) from downtown. Minnesota-Crookston was 18-of-61 (29.5%) from the floor and 2-of-14 (14.3%) from beyond the arc. NDSU was 14-of-18 (77.8%) from the free throw line, while the Golden Eagles were 13-of-15 (86.7%) at the charity stripe. NDSU held a 50-26 advantage in the paint, while outscoring the Golden Eagles bench 35-22.

North Dakota State has made at least two 3-pointers in 111-straight games dating back to a loss against Delaware on Nov. 29, 2015. Last year, The Bison averaged 5.7 3-pointers per game and hit at least seven in 12 games.
Gaislerova Named to 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team
Michelle Gaislerova was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's Basketball First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) last season.
Gaislerova has a 4.0 GPA and majors in Journalism. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. North Dakota State is in district six, which includes schools from Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Gaislerova was one of three selections from the Summit League, joining South Dakota's Allison Arens and Ciara Duffy.
NDSU Women's Basketball Picked Seventh In Summit League Preseason Poll
The North Dakota State Bison women's basketball team was voted seventh in the Summit League preseason poll released by the league office. South Dakota was tabbed the preseason favorite with 20 first-place votes, while South Dakota State was picked second with 13 first-place votes. Denver, picked for third, received the remaining first place vote.
Last Time Against Northern Iowa
The North Dakota State women's basketball team (4-5) fell at Northern Iowa (2-6) on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, inside the McLeod Center, 56-41. The Bison scored just 16 points in the second half and struggled shooting in the stanza, going 6-for-26 from the field for 23 percent.
Senior Brooke LeMar led NDSU with 12 points, while junior forward Holly Johnson netted 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting. LeMar matched her career-high with nine boards in the contest, and junior Marena Whittle also pulled down nine rebounds. Whittle also matched her career-high with a game-high five steals.
North Dakota State shot 32 percent from the field in the game, going 18-for-56, and failed to connect from three-point range, going 0-for-10. The Bison went 5-for-7 at the free-throw line for 71 percent. The Bison outrebounded UNI, 41-40, and posted a 30-20 scoring advantage in the paint.
Freshman Ellie Herzberg paced the Panthers, netting a game-high 14 points on 6-for-12 shooting, and sophomore Madison Weekly also reached double figures for UNI with 10 points. Sophomore Alyssa Johnson led Northern Iowa on the glass with a game-high 10 rebounds.
MidcoSN to Televise 17 NDSU Women's Basketball Games in 2019-20
Midco has announced that 17 NDSU women's basketball games during the 2019-20 season will be broadcast on the Midco Sports Network. All games will either be on MidcoSN or MidcoSN2. In addition, all 17 Midco games, along with games at Northern Iowa and Bradley, will either be available on ESPN+ or ESPN3.
Head Coach Jory Collins
Jory Collins was named the head coach of the North Dakota State women's basketball program on April 29, 2019.
Collins is the 11th head coach of the Bison. Collins just finished his first year as an assistant at the University of Kansas after spending eight seasons as the head coach at NCAA Division II Emporia State.
This past season at Kansas, Collins primarily worked with the post players. He helped recruit the No. 2 class in the Big 12 after the early signing period in November.
Collins spent 12 years at Emporia State, including the last eight as the head coach. He compiled a record of 199-56 with five straight Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association tournament titles (2013-17) and six straight trips to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 (2012-17). In 2017, Emporia State finished the season ranked first in the NCAA Central Region for the third time in four years.
His 2015 team won the NCAA Division II Central Region championship, advancing to the Final Four with a 29-5 record. Collins has a 33-9 career postseason record in the MIAA and NCAA tournaments, while compiling a 15-8 overall record against teams ranked in the top 10 in the nation.
Collins was named the KBCA Women's Basketball Four-Year Coach of the Year in 2015, while being named the NCAA Division II Region 7 Russell Athletic/WBCA Coach of the Year in 2014. The Hornets finished with 20 or more wins in seven of his eight seasons as a head coach.
Off the floor, the Hornets finished with the top GPA (3.72) in NCAA Division II in 2017. The 2018 squad finished fourth in the nation with a 3.71 GPA.
Prior to being the head coach at Emporia State, Collins spent four years as an assistant for the Hornets. Emporia State won back-to-back MIAA championships in 2008 and 2009. In 2010, the Hornets won the NCAA Division II national championship with a 30-5 record. Collins served as the primary recruiter that identified, evaluated, recruited and signed the class that won the national championship.
Collins earned a bachelor's degree in education from Emporia State in 2002 and a master's degree in science in school leadership from Emporia State in 2006.

- UNI returns 2018-19 First-Team All-MVC honoree Karli Rucker and 2017-18 First-Team All-MVC honoree Megan Maahs to court. Maahs returns after missing most of the 2018-19 season with an injury.
- The Panthers have played in postseason play in nine of the last 10 seasons, including an appearance in the WNIT in 2019 where the Panthers met Minnesota in the first round. Rucker is the leading returning scorer at 15.0 points per game from the 2018-19 season.
