Israelson Ties For First at Summit League Men's Golf Championship

NEWTON, Kan. - North Dakota State's Andrew Israelson was one of four players to tie for first at the 2019 Summit League Men's Golf Championship. The Bison finished in a tie for fourth as a team.
Denver's Cal McCoy sank a birdie putt on the first playoff hole to capture medalist honors, as the Pioneers won the team title with an 874. The Bison had rounds of 294 and 296 on Monday, finishing in a tie for fourth with an 890. NDSU was just a stroke behind South Dakota and South Dakota State, who tied for second with an 889.
Israelson shot a 72 in the second round and a 74 in the third round, finishing with a 219. Israelson had a pair of birdies in the second round and one in the third round. The third round was moved up to Monday, as the forecast in Newton called for rain on Tuesday.
Nate Deziel made big moves to start the day, as he fired a career-low 67 with six birdies in the second round. He moved into first place after the second round. Deziel shot a 79 in the third round, finishing in a tie for sixth with a 221 overall. Deziel's 67 is tied for the lowest score by a Bison this year.
Van Holmgren had a birdie in the second round, as he shot a 78. Holmgren followed with three birdies in the final round, as his 72 moved him into a tie for 18th with a 225. Lucas Johnson also tied for 18th with a 225, shooting a 77 in the second round and a 71 in the final round. Johnson had five birdies on the day, including three in the final round. Will Holmgren had three birdies on the day, as he finished in a tie for 44th with a 247. W. Holmgren shot an 84 in the second round and an 83 in the final round.
