Bison Women Host North Dakota Sunday Afternoon

The North Dakota State women's basketball team hosts North Dakota on Sunday, Jan. 19 at the Scheels Center. The game will now start at 3:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the men. Brian Shawn and Greg Stemen will have the call on MidcoSN2 and ESPN+, while Keith Brake and Jeremy Jorgenson will have the call on Bison 1660 and 92.7 FM.
North Dakota Series History
The Fighting Hawks own a 48-38 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to a 59-56 NDSU victory on Jan. 14, 1967. North Dakota has won nine of the last 10 meetings. The two teams split a pair of games last year, with each team winning on its home court. NDSU won 69-57 in Fargo, while North Dakota won 70-58 in Grand Forks.

Last Time Against North Dakota
The North Dakota (10-14, 5-6 Summit) women's basketball team closed the game on a 16-5 run in the last 3:36, downing the North Dakota State (6-16, 3-7 Summit) Bison 70-58.
Trailing 7-6 midway through the opening quarter, the Bison used a 7-0 run in 1:28 span to take a 13-7 lead. A bucket by Marina Fernandez with :26 left in the quarter gave NDSU a 21-17 lead after the first quarter.
A 3-pointer and free throw by Michelle Gaislerova with 5:35 to play in the first half gave NDSU a 30-23 lead. The Fighting Hawks ended the half on a 7-1 run, cutting the NDSU lead to 31-30 after the opening half.
The Fighting Hawks extended the run into the second half, using a 10-2 run in the first 4:35 of the third quarter to take a 40-33 lead. A layup by Danneka Voegeli started an 8-0 Bison run, as a pair of free throws by Sofija Zivaljevic gave NDSU a 43-42 lead with :11 left in the quarter. A free throw by Mikayla Reinke with :05 left tied the game going into the fourth quarter.
North Dakota scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter, taking a 50-43 lead with 8:23 to play. Tyrah Spencer scored six-straight points for the Bison, cutting the lead to one with 5:20 to play. The lead was still at one with 3:36 to play when Jill Morton hit a 3-pointer to start the 16-5 run to close the game.
Emily Dietz led the Bison with 13 points, her 10th double digit scoring game of the season. Gaislerova added 11 points, while Rylee Nudell had nine. It was the 18th double digit scoring game of the year for Gaislerova. Lexi Klabo led the Fighting Hawks with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Fernandez finished with nine rebounds, while Dietz and Nudell each had six. Fernandez had a pair of assists for NDSU.
NDSU was 19-of-46 (41.3%) from the field and 3-of-14 (21.4%) from 3-point range. The Bison missed all seven attempts from deep in the second half. The loss dropped the Bison to 3-13 overall and 0-4 in the Summit League. The Coyotes improved to 16-2 overall and 5-0 in the Summit League with their fifth-straight victory.
Ryan Cobbins had a career-high 15 points to lead the Bison, while Nicole Scales added five points off the bench. Ciara Duffy led the Coyotes with a game-high 20 points. Sofija Zivaljevic led the Bison with five rebounds, while Rylee Nudell and Cobbins each had four. Zivaljevic had three assists, while Cobbins added a pair of steals.

The Bison went 0-of-14 from 3-point range against Valparaiso on Nov. 15, ending a streak of 113-straight games with at least two 3-pointers. The last time NDSU didn't hit a 3-pointer in a game was Nov. 29, 2015 against Delaware. Since the game against Valparaiso, the Bison have hit at least three in each of the last 13 games, including a season-high nine against Iowa State.
Collins Earns 200th Career Victory
With NDSU's win over New Hampshire on Dec. 1, head coach Jory Collins earned his 200th career victory. In his ninth season overall as a head coach, Collins earned his first win on Nov. 13, 2010, as Emporia State beat Tulsa 68-64. His 100th career win came on Nov. 25, 2014, as Emporia State beat Henderson State 93-53.
NDSU Women's Basketball Picked Seventh In Summit League Preseason Poll
The North Dakota State Bison women's basketball team was voted seventh in the Summit League preseason poll released by the league office. South Dakota was tabbed the preseason favorite with 20 first-place votes, while South Dakota State was picked second with 13 first-place votes. Denver, picked for third, received the remaining first place vote.
MidcoSN to Televise 17 NDSU Women's Basketball Games in 2019-20
Midco has announced that 17 NDSU women's basketball games during the 2019-20 season will be broadcast on the Midco Sports Network. All games will either be on MidcoSN or MidcsoSN2. In addition, all 17 Midco games, along with games at Northern Iowa and Bradley, will either be available on ESPN+ or ESPN3.
Bison Sign Three on National Signing Day
NDSU will add a pair of high school players, while also getting a junior college transfer, head coach Jory Collins announced on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
Abigail Schulte, a 5-10 guard from Maple Grove, Minn., Kylie Strop, a 5-7 guard from River Falls, Wis. and Reneya Hopkins, a 5-7 junior college transfer from Redlands Community College have all signed during the first signing day for Collins.
An all-conference junior college performer, Hopkins averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks during her freshman year at RCC. An all-state selection as a junior, Schulte averaged 12.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists as a junior. Strop is the all-time leader in scoring and steals at River Falls High School, averaging 19.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.0 steals as a junior.
