ST. LOUIS - North Dakota State linebacker
James Kaczor and fullback
Hunter Luepke were named Missouri Valley Football Conference Performers of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 6, by the league office. These are the first player of the week awards in each of their careers.
Kaczor, a junior from St. Cloud, Minn., finished with a game-high 11 tackles in North Dakota State's 39-28 victory over Central Arkansas on Saturday. The former safety had one quarterback hurry and scored a two-point conversion on the opening drive of the third quarter that gave NDSU its biggest lead of the day, 18-6. He made two third-down stops as the Bison held UCA to 2 of 14 on third-down conversions.
Â
Luepke, a sophomore from Spencer, Wis., scored twice in the final eight minutes to help NDSU overcome its first fourth-quarter deficit in nearly two years. His 23-yard reception put the Bison ahead for good, and his 13-yard TD run on the next possession made it a two-possession game with 1:51 remaining. Luepke finished with two carries for 27 yards and two catches for 29 yards while helping the Bison rush for 276 yards and 6.0 yards per carry.
North Dakota State extended its FCS-record winning streak to 38 games.
