THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – North Dakota State 141-pounder Sawyer Degen, 174 Jimmy Noel and unattached 184 Gary Wokojance each won titles at the Northland Open hosted by Northland Community & Technical College on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Lincoln High School.
Five NDSU wrestlers compiled an 11-0 record during the tournament with a pair of pins, two tech fall and three major decisions. Degen (11-7 overall, 2-0 Northland Open) had a fall and major decision. Noel (9-4, 3-0) recorded a pair of major decisions and Wokojance (8-6, 2-0) notched two tech falls.
In addition, Jesse Shearer (5-2, 2-0) posted a pair of decisions to place second at 174 pounds, while TJ Pottinger (9-8, 2-0) had a pin and was runner-up at 184.
