NDSU Baseball Adds Eight to the Latest Recruiting Class

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State University head baseball coach Tod Brown announced the addition of eight players to the latest recruiting class on Feb. 4.
Catcher Will Busch, infielder Jason Chiu, left-handed pitcher/first baseman Caden Edwards, left-handed pitcher Jaxon Edwards, right-handed pitcher/infielder Cade Feeney, infielder Garret Hill, infielder Zach Kluvers and right-handed pitcher Hayden Sylte will all continue their education and play baseball for the Bison starting in the fall of 2020.

A two-time all-conference and all-section selection…Helped lead the Trojans to the 2019 Minnesota 4A State Championship game…Earned seven varsity letters in high school in baseball, football and wrestling, earning three of them in baseball…Prep Baseball Report ranks Busch as the 10th best player in Minnesota and the second-best catcher…Tallied 23 RBI and seven doubles during the 2019 spring season…

Ranked as the sixth-best left-handed pitcher in Minnesota by Prep Baseball Report…Two-sport athlete in high school in football and baseball…Was named the conference offensive player of the year at quarterback and a first-team all-conference selection…Went 4-0 in 25 innings pitched during the spring season…Tallied 34 strikeouts with a 2.80 ERA…Had a .283 batting average against an .820 OPS…Recorded 19 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched during the summer…Had a 2.80 ERA with a .283 batting average against… Helped lead Duluth East to the section finals in spring of 2019…

Named the 2019 Gatorade Player of the Year in North Dakota…Two-time all-state selection…In the spring of 2019, tossed 35 innings with 63 strikeouts, allowing just 20 hits and five walks with a .80 ERA…At the plate, hit .383 with 22 RBI and a pair of home runs…Multi-sport athlete in high school as starting quarterback in football and plays basketball…Brother, Dalton, was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2016 and currently pitches for North Carolina State…

"Hayden is ultra-competitive on the mound and fills up the strike zone with multiple pitches. Hayden relentlessly attacks hitters and showcases a swing and miss breaking ball. He is a good athlete with a lot of upside that our coaching staff is excited about. Throughout the summer, his legion team plays against great competition and this has allowed Hayden to pitch in a lot of highly impactful games.
