FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University men's track & field team and seven of its student-athletes were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as All-Academic performers, the organization announced Thursday, July 16.
As a team, the Bison men recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.31 to earn the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award for the 15th consecutive season. A minimum team cumulative GPA of 3.00 is required for the award.
Clayton Hannula, Trevor Otterdahl, Jacob Rodin, Alex Talley, Kristoffer Thomsen, Tony Ukkelberg and Guillaume Viault were recognized as All-Academic individuals. Otterdahl, Talley and Ukkelberg were honored for the third straight year.
NDSU's total of seven All-Academic individuals was one shy of the school record of eight, despite having only the indoor season to meet the qualifying criteria after the outdoor season was canceled. The Bison were the only Division I program with multiple men's honorees who own a 4.0 GPA.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team in 2020, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or the national top 48 in a relay event on the official NCAA performance list.
The Bison men have won a combined 19 indoor and outdoor Summit League team titles since 2008, including 10 straight outdoor crowns.
