The Bison snatched an early lead in the opening set, 11-9, following an attack error. However, the Roos came back and closed the frame on a 4-0 run to take the win, 25-22. Quan led all players with nine digs in the set.

Both teams exchanged points in a tight second stanza to find themselves deadlocked, 12-12. The Roos then took advantage of a 6-1 run to capture the lead, 18-13. Kansas City held off NDSU the rest of the way to take the set, 25-20.

The Roos carried the momentum over into the third set doubling up the Bison, 10-5. Kansas City continued to surge stretching their lead up 15-8 by the midway point. The Bison made one final push assembling a 4-0 run to pull within two, 23-21. Kansas City once again went on to withstand the NDSU comeback and won the frame, 25-22, and the match, 3-0.
