Griesel, Bison Storm Back to Topple Sycamores, 77-70

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team outscored Indiana State by 16 in the second half to storm back for a 77-70 victory on Monday night inside the Scheels Center.
Sam Griesel led the Bison comeback, finishing the contest with 25 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Grant Nelson scored 18 points for NDSU, and Tyree Eady posted 13 points and nine boards.
NDSU (7-4 overall) shot 54 percent in the second half and limited the Sycamores to 35-percent shooting over the final 20 minutes. The Bison sank 9-of-22 shots (41 percent) from three-point range in the game, including three treys by Jarius Cook.
NDSU trailed 43-34 at halftime and reached its largest deficit at 11 points when Indiana State pulled ahead 45-34 to open the second half. The Sycamores still led by 11 at 55-44 with 16:00 remaining.
The Bison roared back with a 16-2 run over the next six minutes, taking a 60-57 lead. Griesel pumped in back-to-back buckets in the middle of the run, then tallied assists on the three-pointer by Nelson that gave NDSU the lead and a slashing bucket by Eady that put the Bison up three.
NDSU led the rest of the way. Rocky Kreuser drilled a three with 2:34 to play that extended the Bison advantage back to seven at 71-64.
Griesel led the Bison with a plus-17 scoring margin in his time on the floor.
Cooper Nease poured in 30 points for Indiana State, playing all 40 minutes.
The Bison will wrap up non-conference play at Pacific in Stockton, Calif., on Friday night.
