NDSU Set to Open Summit League Play at North Dakota

North Dakota State (4-6) is set to begin Summit League play at North Dakota (6-5) on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.

BISON QUICK HITS
Five Bison reached double figures in the scoring column as NDSU wrapped up non-conference play with a win over Jamestown, 82-36, on Sunday afternoon at Scheels Center.
Ryan Cobbins set the pace with her second double-double of the season with 11 points and season-high 11 rebounds. Heaven Hamling notched her sixth straight double figure scoring performance with a game-high 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting from three. Emily Dietz, Kylie Strop and Sophie Olson, who made her Bison debut, also contributed 10 points each.
PEAKING BACK AT NON-CONFERENCE PLAY
NDSU played 10 non-conference games, including five on the road across four different states. Out of the 10 opponents, six enter the week boasting winning records: Green Bay (6-4), Northern Iowa (7-4), Montana (9-2), Kansas State (10-2), No. 8/4 Arizona (10-0) and Jamestown (10-4).
HAMLING HEATS UP
Heaven Hamling has registered double figures in scoring in each of her last six games, which is the longest double figure scoring streak of her career. Over that span, she is averaging 14.8 points per game and is shooting 54.2 percent (32-59) from the field and 48.4 percent (15-31) from three.
COBBINS CONTRIBUTES ON BOTH ENDS
Ryan Cobbins has started all 10 games this season and is averaging a career-best 12.5 points per game. She's shooting 45.3 percent (43-95) from the field and 48.1 percent (13-27) from three. Cobbins is also contributing on defensive end of the floor hauling in a team-high 61 total rebounds (6.1 rbg).
DIETZ IS MAKING HISTORY
Emily Dietz is continuing to climb up the ranks on the NDSU all-time points and rebounds list. She is currently nine rebounds away from 600 and ranks 20th in NDSU history with 591. Dietz is also 31 points away from 1,000 and is positioned T-35th in Bison history with 969.
OVERCOMING SLOW STARTS
NDSU has been outscored in the first quarter this season, 158-133. However, the Bison have bounced back and outscored their opponents a combined 525-470 over the final three quarters.
LINEUP ADJUSTMENTS
The Bison have used four different starting lineup combinations this season. Last week against Jamestown, NDSU used its fourth combination as Reneya Hopkins moved into the lineup along with Heaven Hamling, Ryan Cobbins, Emily Dietz and Abby Schulte.
SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
North Dakota begins the week with a 6-5 overall record and has won its last two contests. Most recently, the Fighting Hawks picked up a 70-60 win at Detroit Mercy on Saturday. Melissa Leet notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds against the Titans.
The Fighting Hawks rank eighth in the country and lead the Summit League in free throw percentage shooting 78.6 percent (151-192) from the line.
THE SERIES VS. NORTH DAKOTA
Under third-year head coach Jory Collins, NDSU is 5-0 against North Dakota. The Bison have also won the last five meetings in the series that dates back to 1967. However, UND leads the all-time series, 48-43. NDSU has never opened Summit League play against North Dakota.
In the most recent meeting last season, NDSU topped UND in overtime on the road, 71-68. Emily Dietz paced the Bison with 18 points and nine rebounds. Heaven Hamling added in 14 points, while Kadie Deaton rounded out the top performers with 10 points.
