NDSU Set for Encounter with No. 10/6 Arizona

THIS WEEK
North Dakota State (3-4) opens up a two-game road swing at No. 10/6 Arizona (7-0) on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. CT. The Bison will wrap up the road trip at Wyoming (3-4) on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.

Four Bison reached double figures in the scoring column to help North Dakota State top Bradley, 83-72, at Scheels Center on Saturday night. NDSU shot a season-best 50.8 percent from the field (30-59) and 72.2 percent from the free throw line (13-18). Additionally, the Bison drained a season-high 10 three pointers on 18 attempts with six different players registering at least one.
Ryan Cobbins tallied her first double-double of the season with a career-high 24 points and season-best 10 rebounds against the Braves. Emily Dietz also contributed her first double-double of the season with a season-best 15 points and 11 rebounds. Kadie Deaton netted a season-high 14 points, while Heaven Hamling poured in 15 of her own.
FACING THE TOP 25
Arizona begins the week slotted No. 10 in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll and No. 6 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. NDSU is 0-14 against top 25 opponents in the Division I era. This will mark the sixth time under third year head coach Jory Collins that the Bison will face a top 25 opponent.
AGAINST POWER 5 OPPONENTS
Under third year head coach Jory Collins, NDSU is 1-4 against Power 5 opponents. The Bison dropped a 83-72 decision at Kansas State on Nov. 29. Heaven Hamling paced NDSU with a team-high 14 points and season-best six rebounds.
BACK IN THE DESERT
NDSU is set to travel back to the state of Arizona for the first time since the 2014-15 season when the Bison fell short at Grand Canyon, 69-54, on Dec. 21, 2014. Brooke LeMar paced NDSU with a team-high 14 points, while Liz Keena added in 10 rebounds and nine points.

Ryan Cobbins uncle, Lyron Cobbins, was an All-American at Notre Dame and played one season for the Arizona Cardinals in 1997.
GOT IT GOING FROM DOWNTOWN
In the win over Bradley, NDSU drained a season-high 10 triples on 18 attempts with six different players registering at least one. It marked the most three pointers NDSU has connected on in a single game since it netted 10 against Denver on March 7, 2021. Heaven Hamling set the pace shooting 3-of-5 from behind the arc.
OVERCOMING SLOW STARTS
NDSU has been outscored in the first quarter this season, 124-104. However, the Bison have bounced back and outscored their opponents a combined 380-338 over the final three quarters.
COLLECTING ALL THE REBOUNDS
NDSU is collecting 35.0 rebounds per game this season and is limiting its opponents to 31.3. The Bison have registered a +3.7 rebounding margin and have won the rebounding the battle in five of the first seven games this season.

COBBINS CONTINUES FAST START
Ryan Cobbins is averaging a team-best 15.7 points per game and has tallied double figures in scoring in all seven games this season. It marks the longest double digit scoring streak of her career since the 2019-20 season when she assembled eight straight games from Jan. 16 vs. South Dakota to Feb. 9 vs. Oral Roberts.
Cobbins is shooting team-best 53.6 percent (37-69) from the field and 61.9 percent (13-21) from three. Additionally, she is also connecting on 82.1 percent (23-28) of her free throws.
SCOUTING ARIZONA
Arizona begins the week with a 7-0 overall record after going 3-0 to win the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The Wildcats rolled past Rutgers, 80-44, in the Paradise Jam championship game behind 50 points from the bench. Cate Reese paced Arizona with 16 points.
The Wildcats, who are one of 13 unbeaten teams in the nation, currently rank in the top 10 nationally in field goal percentage defense (3rd, 30.9), field goal percentage (5th 48.6), scoring defense (5th, 47.9), blocked shots per game (6th, 7.0) and scoring margin (7th, 26.7).
