NDSU Women’s Golf Opens Spring Season at GCU Invitational

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The North Dakota State women's golf team opened the spring portion of the 2020-21 schedule Monday at the Grand Canyon University Invitational.
NDSU sits in 13th place as a team after shooting 623 through two rounds. The Bison shot a 312 in the opening round and a 311 in the second. NDSU had an eagle and 19 birdies. GCU is currently leading after shooting a 577, led by Tagiralani Luafalealo, who shot four-under after two rounds.
The Bison are led by senior Alexis Thomas and junior Lexi Geolat. Both are tied for 42nd place, shooting a 154. Geolat recorded an eagle on the seventh hole of the second round. Freshman Catherine Monty shot a 76 in the first round and an 80 in the second round, as she is tied for 51st.
Junior Taylor McCorkle shot a 161 and is tied for 69th place. Sophomore Maddie Herzog rounded out the scoring for the Bison, sitting in 77th place after shooting a 163. Herzog recorded four birdies.
The Bison will play the third, and final round, Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. (central) at GCU Championship Golf Course.
