TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts defeated the North Dakota State baseball team 5-3 Saturday in the third game of a four-game series between the Bison and Golden Eagles at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
NDSU dropped to 15-6 overall and 4-3 in Summit League play, while Oral Roberts improved to 9-13 overall and 2-1 in league play. The two teams will play the series finale on Sunday, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
Calen Schwabe led the Bison with three hits, while
Peter Brookshaw,
Bennett Hostetler and
Tucker Rohde each had two. Brookshaw drove in a pair of runs.
Ben Smith suffered his first loss of the year, as he dropped to 4-1 in 5.2 innings of work. Smith allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits and two walks, while striking out one.
Jake Drew struck out one and allowed a hit in a third of an inning, while
Gabe Pilla struck out three and allowed a hit in two innings of work.
The first three runs for Oral Roberts came on singles in the fourth and fifth innings. NDSU cut into the lead in the sixth as Brookshaw hit a two-run home run to bring in Schwabe. The Golden Eagles got the runs right back with a pair of RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth. The final NDSU run came in the seventh, as Schwabe singled down the right field line to bring in
Zach Solano.
