Complete Men's Event Squad Rankings

The North Dakota State University track & field program has the top group of shot putters in the NCAA, according to the outdoor event squad rankings released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week.

The event squad rankings rank every Division I team within each single event, averaging the best performances from the top four athletes at each school in each event. The Bison women and men are both ranked first nationally in the shot put for the 2021 outdoor season.

In the women's shot put, NDSU's Akealy Moton, Shelby Gunnells, Tasha Willing and Maggie Schwarzkopf lead the NCAA with their average of 55-3 (16.84m). NDSU is the only program in the country with four women surpassing 50 feet in the shot put this season.

NDSU's top performers in the men's shot put (Kristoffer Thomsen, Alex Talley, Maxwell Otterdahl and Trevor Otterdahl) sit atop the national list with an average of 62-8 (19.10m). All four Bison have topped 60 feet in the shot put this year, while no other school in the country has four men over 58 feet.

In addition, the Bison women are No. 2 in the event squad rankings for the hammer throw and No. 4 in the javelin.
