BROOKINGS, S.D. - The North Dakota State softball team closed out its regular season on Saturday, May 8, with a pair of losses to Summit League champion South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits won the opener 2-0 and took the second game 7-5.
NDSU finished the regular season 16-28 overall and 11-12 in The Summit League. SDSU (38-5, 21-1) will be the No. 1 seed for the Summit League Championship presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, which begins on Wednesday, May 12, at NDSU.
SDSU's Rozelyn Carrillo and Emma Osmundson hit solo home runs and Grace Glanzer (16-3) held the Bison to three singles over five innings of work for the win in Game 1. Tori Kniesche pitched the final two innings for her first save of the season.
Kara O'Byrne (0-8) struck out eight in the loss.
NDSU led the second game 1-0 on an RBI double by
Ciara Jensen in the second inning before the Jackrabbits scored four runs in the third inning. Carrillo doubled in Allison Yoder and Cylie Halvorson belted a three-run homer to left field.

Avery Wysong cut the SDSU lead to 4-2 in the fourth with a solo homer to left field, and the Bison went ahead with three runs in the fifth.
Madyson Camacho had an RBI single,
Dez Cardenas beat a throw to the plate for the tying run, and Camacho later scored on an infield error to put NDSU ahead 5-4.
The Jackrabbits got all three runs back with two outs in the bottom of the fifth when Kelsey Lenox cranked a three-run homer to put SDSU ahead 7-5.
Kendra Conard (2-1) pitched all seven innings for SDSU in the second game allowing six hits and one walk with one strikeout.
Paige Vargas (9-10) took the loss for NDSU allowing nine hits and one walk with four strikeouts.
