NDSU Volleyball Comes Up Short Against Oral Roberts

FARGO, N.D. – Syra Tanchin reached double figures in kills for her eighth straight match as North Dakota State fell short against Oral Roberts, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
With the loss, NDSU drops to 6-8 (0-2 Summit) on the season, while Oral Roberts improves to 8-3 (2-0 Summit).
Tanchin paced the Bison with a match-high 11 kills and .476 hitting percentage. Raegen Reilly passed out a team-best 29 assists with six digs, while Kaylee Hanger added in a team-best 11 digs.
Both teams traded points in the opening set until ORU created a 14-10 advantage following a service ace. NDSU battled back and used a 3-0 run to lock the contest up, 20-20, after back-to-back kills from Hinze. The Golden Eagles then closed the frame on a 5-2 run to steal the set, 25-22.
NDSU pushed back in the second stanza sprinting out to a 5-1 edge after a service ace from Abby Stark. The Bison extended their lead up to 11-3 following a kill from Michelle Glover to force an Oral Roberts timeout. The Golden Eagles then stormed back to lock the set, 22-22, before assembling a 3-1 run to win the set, 25-23.
Both teams exchanged points in the third frame that saw a match-high six tie scores until the Golden Eagles rattled off four straight points to steal the lead, 11-9. ORU continued to surge increasing its lead to 23-15. The Golden Eagles went on to close out the frame, 25-17, and the match, 3-0.
North Dakota State returns to action at South Dakota on Tuesday. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
