GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory over North Dakota Sunday afternoon in Summit League play at Bronson Field.
Paige Goaley put the Bison (7-7-3, 3-4-0 Summit League) in front in the 11th minute with NDSU's first shot of the game. Olivia Lovick found Goaley in space outside of the penalty area and Goaley fired a shot from distance into the top left corner for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
I'm the 20th minute, Kelsey Kallio had a good look to double the Bison lead as she forced a save from North Dakota's (6-7-4, 2-3-2 Summit League) Madi Livingston.
North Dakota had one strong chance in the first half coming in the 32nd minute, as Bailey McNitt forced a diving save from Abby Wilkinson. The junior Bison keeper made two saves in the opening 45 minutes, as the Bison took a 1-0 lead into the break.
In the 61st minute, Lovick would draw a foul in the box to earn a penalty kick for the Bison. Lovick then stepped up and tucked away the penalty into the corner to double the Bison lead with her third goal of the season and her first collegiate penalty kick goal.
About 15 minutes later, Wilkinson had to make a couple saves in some of the best chances of the game for the Fighting Hawks. Wilkinson finished with eight saves in the game for her fourth shutout of the season.
It is the seventh shutout of the season for the Bison, becoming the most in a season under head coach Mike Regan.
NDSU led in shots 14-12, while the two teams each finished with eight shots on goal. Both teams had six corner kicks and nine fouls.
