SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State men's golfer Ian Simonich has been named the TicketSmarter Co-Peak Golfer of the Month for September, announced league officials on Thursday afternoon.
 
Simonich, who shares the award with Carson Griggs of Denver, led the way for the Bison in September, helping guide NDSU to a pair of tournament victories, a second-place finish and a fifth-place finish in four team events. He recorded his first career victory, a second-place finish, a 10th place finish and a 16th place finish in his four events.
 
The sophomore has defeated 90.6 percent (240-25) of the golfers he has faced this season. Simonich has posted a scoring average of 70.64, averaging over a stroke (1.09) under par through 11 rounds this season. Six of Simonich's 11 rounds have been under par, including a season and career-best round of 67 (-4) at the Zach Johnson Invitational. Simonich also has two rounds of par and just one round that is more than 1-over par this season.
 
The award is the first for Simonich in his career and the first Summit League week/month honor for the Bison since Brock Winter won twice in the spring of last season, including most recently on April 13.
 
Simonich and the Bison will be off until October 17-19, when NDSU heads to Berthoud, Colorado for the TPC Colorado at Heron Lakes Collegiate hosted by the University of Denver.
