The North Dakota State University men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional in Columbia, Mo., on Friday, Nov. 11.
The women's six-kilometer race will begin at 11 a.m. at Gans Creek Cross Country Course, with the men's 10k to follow at Noon.
The NCAA Midwest Regional will feature runners from 35 teams spanning nine states (Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota).
The Bison women are ranked 10th, and the NDSU men are 14th in the Midwest in the latest regional rankings from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
A total of 31 teams will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla., on Nov. 19. The top two teams at each of the nine regional meets automatically qualify, leaving 13 at-large bids. The selection process looks at each team's performance over the course of the season, along with their finish at the NCAA Regional.
Individually, 38 additional athletes per gender will qualify, with the top four runners at each regional not on a qualifying team being automatically selected.
