Bison Cruise Past UND, End Regular Season at 21-9

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team jumped out to an early lead and never trailed, cruising to a 79-53 win at North Dakota on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Bison conclude the regular season with a record of 21-9 overall and 13-5 in The Summit League.
The Bison will be either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed for the Summit League Tournament, pending the outcome of Saturday evening's games.
Grant Nelson led the Bison with 17 points and seven rebounds, and Jarius Cook, Tyree Eady and Rocky Kreuser all scored 10 to join Nelson in double figures. Kreuser and Boden Skunberg both dished out four assists as the Bison racked up 17 in the contest.
NDSU went ahead 17-5 in the first 8:15 of the game and led 34-25 at halftime. The Bison exploded for 14 straight points to open the second half, pushing the margin to 23 at 48-25. NDSU led by at least 20 the rest of the way.
Nelson drained 4-of-5 from beyond the arc to lead an 11-for-23 (48 percent) effort from three-point range for NDSU. Kreuser finished with a stat line of 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks.
NDSU has now won 8 of the past 10 games against the Fighting Hawks.
If NDSU is the No. 2 seed, it will open the Summit League Tournament on Saturday, March 5, in Sioux Falls. If the Bison are the No. 3 seed, they will begin tournament play on Sunday, March 6.
