Bison Begin Summit League Tournament Saturday as No. 2 Seed

The Tournament: The No. 2-seeded North Dakota State men's basketball team (21-9 overall, 13-5 Summit) will play No. 7 seed Denver in the quarterfinals of the Summit League Tournament on Saturday, March 5, at 8:30 p.m. inside the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. The winner will play the winner of No. 3 seed Oral Roberts and No. 6 seed Western Illinois in the second semifinal on Monday night.

What's at Stake: The winner of the Summit League Championship receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. NDSU is looking for its fifth league tournament title in nine years and its sixth NCAA Tournament appearance in school history.

Where to Watch: All quarterfinal and semifinal games of the Summit League Tournament will be broadcast on Midco Sports and be available on ESPN+. Tuesday's championship game will be on ESPN2 and the ESPN app.
Bison in Sioux Falls: NDSU is 21-8 all-time in Sioux Falls at the Summit League Tournament. The Bison are 14-4 at the Summit League Tournament in the Dave Richman era.
Title Talk: NDSU has won five Summit League Tournament crowns in 13 seasons as a full member of the league -- 2009, 2014, 2015, 2019, and 2020.
Year In, Year Out: The Bison have played in three straight Summit League Tournament championship games, winning the title in 2019 and 2020, before falling in 2021 after erasing a 25-point halftime deficit to pull even with Oral Roberts in the final minute. NDSU has played in seven of the past nine Summit League championship games, dating back to March 2013.
Road Dubs: The Bison are one of only 23 teams in the nation with at least nine road wins this season.
Record In Sight: NDSU is on pace to set a single-season school record for three-point defense, holding opponents to 31.6% shooting from beyond the arc this season.
The Summit League is the top three-point shooting conference in Division I, with teams averaging 36.8% this season.
Picking Up Steam: NDSU has won 10 of its last 12 games. The Bison are 16-5 since Dec. 10.
20 Wins: NDSU has achieved its eighth 20-win season in the Division I era. This is the fourth 20-win season under head coach David Richman, tying Tom Billeter (1992-97) for the most by a head coach in NDSU history. Richman also owns a pair of 19-win seasons.
Two of a Kind: Rocky Kreuser is one of only two players in NDSU history to accumulate more than 1,600 points, 800 rebounds, and 100 blocks in his career. The other is Joe Regnier (1985-89).
Triple Threat: Sam Griesel is one of three players in The Summit League this season to rank among the Top 12 in the conference in points, rebounds and assists, joining South Dakota State's Baylor Scheierman and Western Illinois's Trenton Massner.
Close Games: 14 of NDSU's 18 Summit League games this season were within a four-point margin with under four minutes remaining in regulation.
1,000 Point Milestone: Tyree Eady surpassed 1,000 points for his Bison career in the win over ORU on Feb. 17, becoming the 38th player in NDSU history to reach the milestone.
Half Decade of Hoops: Fifth-year senior Rocky Kreuser has played in an NDSU record 155 games during his career – tied for the 15th-most among all active NCAA players. He is the fourth player in NDSU history with over 1,600 career points and 800 career rebounds.
Among The Best: In Summit League play, Rocky Kreuser tied for the league lead for rebounding (7.7 rpg) and ranked sixth for scoring (16.7 ppg).
Veteran Shooters: NDSU's three most experienced players -- Rocky Kreuser, Sam Griesel, and Tyree Eady -- shot a combined 43.2 percent from beyond the arc in league play.
Coaching Numbers: David Richman ranks third in NDSU history with 157 wins. Richman's .621 winning percentage is the second-best by a Bison coach since 1925.
