GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's cross country team turned in a dominant victory at the season-opening UND Ron Pynn Classic on Friday afternoon, with sophomore
Allie Wahlund leading the way by claiming the individual title.

The Bison swept the top three places in the race and had nine of the top 11 finishers overall. NDSU scored 19 team points to capture the team title over North Dakota (42).

Wahlund (Minot, N.D.) clocked a personal-best 17:19.5 for the five-kilometer course – the sixth-fastest 5k time in NDSU cross country history.
Kaleesa Houston was a close second, taking runner-up honors in a career-best 17:19.8 to rank seventh-fastest in school history. Sophomore
Grace Link finished third in 17:39.0, also entering the top 20 fastest 5k performances on the NDSU all-time list.

Alexis Roehl placed sixth in 18:05.7, and sophomore
Hope Pringle took seventh in 18:10.6 to complete the team scoring for the Bison.

Erin Valgardson (8th),
Kelby Rinas (9th), and
Reagan Baesler (10th) also earned top-10 finishes for NDSU.

The Bison will race next at the MSU Moorhead Twilight on Friday, Sept. 9.
