Boden Skunberg poured in a career-high 30 points to lift the North Dakota State men's basketball team to a 78-70 victory over Denver on Saturday afternoon inside the Scheels Center.
NDSU improved to 8-6 in Summit League play, climbing to third in the league standings.
Skunberg drained 6-of-10 from beyond the arc on his way to a career-high 30 points, and he added seven rebounds. NDSU junior
Grant Nelson nearly posted a triple-double, finishing with 13 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 8 assists.
Freshman
Damari Wheeler-Thomas scored 13 for NDSU.
Denver led 56-55 with 7:00 remaining before Skunberg and Nelson made threes to spark an 8-0 Bison run that gave NDSU the lead for good. The Bison pushed the advantage to 10 points with just under two minutes left.
The Bison hit 10-of-21 from three-point range for 48 percent.
The victory was the 170th for NDSU head coach David Richman, moving him past B.C. Bentson for second on the school's all-time win list. It was NDSU's 11th straight victory in the series with Denver.
The Bison will travel to play Kansas City (Feb. 16) and Oral Roberts (Feb. 18) on the road next week.
