Winter Wins as NDSU Men’s Golf Takes Second at The Savannah Intercollegiate

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The North Dakota State men's golf team climbed one spot on the final day of the Savannah Intercollegiate, taking second overall at The Club at Savannah Harbor, while Brock Winter climbed five spots to share the medalist honors.
For the second-straight round, Winter shot a 67 to lead the Bison to the best team score in the round. Winter climbed the leaderboard with another bogey-free round as he carded five birdies and 13 pars.
Winter's two rounds of 67 were the best individual rounds of the tournament and helped him finish at -7, tied with Manuel Barbachano of George Washington for medalist honors.
The Bison finished at -5 for the day, catching and passing George Washington for second overall, behind only Columbia. NDSU's 283 was the best round of the day in the 15-team field and five shots better than Columbia's final round after the two tied for a tournament best team round in the second round on Saturday.
Ian Simonich carded a -2 round of 70 on Sunday to climb the leaderboard and finish in a tie for 14th overall at +3 for the three-round event. Simonich had five birdies as well and added 10 pars.
Joining Simonich in a tie for 14th overall in the 90-golfer field was Gavin Cronkhite, who shot an even par round of 7w on the final day. Cronkhite had two bogeys on the front nine, but came back with two birdies on the back nine.
Nate Deziel rounded out the scoring for the Bison with a +2 round of 74. Deziel had two birdies in his round and finished in a tie for 26th overall at +6.
Josh Galvin, who played as an individual, recorded a top 20 finish. Galvin finished at +4 for the tournament after a 75 on the final day. Nate Adams carded a 74 in the final round and finished in a tie for 55th overall at +13.
North Dakota State will have a couple weeks off before returning to the southeast to take part in the Daytona Beach Spring Invitational. The event will be held at the LPGA International on March 6-7.
