
Rodin Improves 800m School Record, Hylen Skies in High Jump Saturday

FARGO, N.D. – Senior Jacob Rodin broke his own North Dakota State indoor 800m record, headlining the efforts of the Bison men's track & field team on Saturday.
Rodin (Kenmare, N.D.) clocked 1:48.23 at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, trimming 0.29 seconds off his previous record from last season. He now stands within the Top 25 in the NCAA this year.
The rest of the NDSU men competed at the Bison Open in Fargo on Saturday.
Elijah Hylen, a junior from St. Francis, Minn., cleared a personal-best 6-11.75 (2.13m) in the high jump, ranking fifth all-time at NDSU. It was the best indoor high jump by a Bison since Jeramy Geditz in 2011.
Sophomore Symon Keiser ran a personal-best 8:19.13 in the 3000m, ranking seventh in NDSU history.
Sophomore Zach McGlynn scored a personal-best 5,073 to win the Bison Open heptathlon, ranking ninth all-time at NDSU. Freshman Paul Olson scored 4,909 points in his first collegiate heptathlon to place second.
Sophomore Brock Johnsen ran a personal-best 8.08 to win the 60m hurdles, ranking ninth-fastest in NDSU history. NDSU swept the top three places with Logan Mathieu in second in 8.11 and Blake Nyenati third in 8.12. Jared Eggermont took fifth in a season-best 8.38.
Dante White won the 60m dash title in 6.86, just 0.01 off his personal-best. Nyenati ran a PR 6.92 for second place, and Mathieu clocked 6.93.
Freshman Jarod White won the pole vault, clearing 16-05.25 (5.01m). Jacob Van Dusseldorp cleared a personal-best 16-01.25 (4.91m) to take second place.
Clayton Hannula claimed the shot put title with an indoor personal-best of 58-09.25 (17.91m). NDSU's Hunter Merkley won the long jump with a mark of 23-04.00 (7.11m). Dante White took second at 22-09.75 (6.95m).
The Bison men won the 4x400m relay with the team of Cullen Curl, Isaac Huntington, Keiser Freetly and Josh Knutson running 3:17.09.
Koate Deebom was third overall in the triple jump, posting a mark of 45-06.50 (13.88m).
