NDSU Men’s Track & Field Completes USF Bulls Invitational

TAMPA, Fla. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team wrapped up competition at its outdoor season-opening meet on Saturday, the USF Bulls Invitational in Tampa.
Junior Payton Smith (Carrington, N.D.) won the 2000m steeplechase, finishing in 5:49.99. NDSU's Hunter Klimek was the runner-up in 5:55.48.
Josh Samyn raced to a third-place finish in the 1500m, clocking 3:53.84 for his outdoor opener. Zach Johnson ran a personal-best 3:56.93 for sixth place, and Jacob Knodle ran 3:57.02 for seventh.
NDSU freshman Blake Nyenati placed fifth in the 110m hurdles, clocking a wind-aided 14.22. Sophomore Logan Mathieu was ninth in 14.79.
Jacob Rodin took fifth in the 400m dash, running an outdoor PR of 47.91. Josh Knutson was 10th in an outdoor PR 48.66. Cullen Curl, Jacob Levin, Rodin and Knutson teamed up to run 3:13.01 in the 4x400m relay for fifth place.
Sophomore Kaden Pastian finished eighth in the discus, throwing 171-2 (52.17m). Trevor Otterdahl was ninth with a throw of 169-2 (51.57m).
Junior Dante White ran 10.70 for his outdoor opener in the 100m dash, taking 14th place in the meet.
