Jacob Rodin broke the outdoor school record in the 800m to headline Friday's performances by the Bison men's track & field team at a pair of meets.

At the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., Rodin ran 1:47.65 in the 800m to break Eric Stroh's previous NDSU record of 1:47.80 from 2011.

The Bison turned in a swarm of strong performances in the 5,000m at the Bryan Clay Invitational, led by redshirt freshman
Jacob Knodle improving his personal-best to 14:12.74 to rank third-fastest in NDSU outdoor history.

Junior
Hunter Klimek set a new 5,000m personal-best, running 14:29.59 to rank eighth in NDSU history.
Zach Johnson ran 14:26.65 for the second-fastest time of his career.

Jake Arason clocked 14:42.48 in the 5000m. Junior
Payton Smith ran a personal-best of 14:49.00 – the morning after he moved up to fifth on the NDSU all-time list in the 3000m steeplechase with a personal-best of 8:58.31.

Beau Brannan ran a career-best 1:51.93 in the 800m.
Keiser Freetly clocked 1:52.06 for the second-fastest time of his career.

At the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif.,
Trevor Otterdahl threw 222-7 (67.86m) in the hammer to take seventh place overall – second among current collegiate athletes.
Tristan Bush threw 198-0 (60.35m) in the hammer for his third straight meet over 60 meters.

Benji Phillips took fifth in the javelin at the Beach Invitational with a mark of 230-6 (70.26m).
Matt Kraft placed ninth with a throw of 217-11 (66.42m).

Competition will conclude on Saturday at both meets.
