FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State and The Citadel have signed a home-and-home contract for two football games to be played during the 2025 and 2027 seasons.
The teams will meet in the 2025 season-opener Aug. 30 in Charleston, S.C., at Johnson Hagood Stadium. NDSU will host The Citadel on Sept. 18, 2027, at the Fargodome.
North Dakota State has not played The Citadel, which is a member of the Southern Conference. The Bulldogs have qualified for the FCS playoffs five times in program history including back-to-back second round appearances in 2015 and 2016.
With a road game in Nashville against Tennessee State in Week 2, the Bison will open the 2025 season with back-to-back road games for the fourth time as a Division I program and the first time since 2014 when NDSU won at Iowa State (34-14) and Weber State (24-7).
NDSU is scheduled to host St. Thomas in a non-conference game Nov. 22 during a bye in the 2025 Missouri Valley Football Conference schedule. The Bison have one remaining non-conference date in 2025, which is a 12-game calendar year for the Football Championship Subdivision.
