NDSU Soccer Rallies to Defeat Oral Roberts 2-1

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State soccer rallied in the second half to defeat Oral Roberts 2-1 on Thursday night at Dacotah Field, taking over the top spot in the Summit League standings.
Oral Roberts (7-6-2, 2-1-1 Summit League) took the lead in the 51st minute, as Alani Chaple scored from outside of the penalty area with a shot off the far post.
North Dakota State (7-4-3, 3-0-1 Summit League) would respond 16 minutes later, as Morgan Russmann made a run into the box and sent a pass across to Ava Stanchina, who scored from the edge of the penalty area to tie the game.
It was the second career goal for Stanchina, and the first for the sophomore this season.
The Bison would then capitalize on a defensive miscue in the 83rd minute. Hannah Arnold played a ball in to the box, that was knocked doen by a Golden Eagles defender right into the path of Russmann, who fired a shot from the center of the penalty area passed Alexa Riefer.
Russmann's goal was her third in Summit League play and her sixth overall this season.
Payton Mulberry made three saves for the Bison, including two key saves in the first half to keep the game level headed into the halftime break.
The Bison picked up their third-straight win in Summit League play and remain unbeaten with the victory. With the win, NDSU moves to the top of the Summit League Standings at the midway point for the Bison, with 10 points.
NDSU will return to action on Sunday, as the Bison travel to Denver to take on the Pioneers (8-5-1, 2-1-1 Summit League). Kickoff in Denver is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT/12 p.m. MT.
