PALM DESERT, Calif. – The North Dakota State women's golf team opened its spring schedule at the Mountain Classic Match Play at the Classic Club falling short in the first round against St. Thomas, 3-0-2, on Monday afternoon.
After
Catherine Monty dropped the first match of the day, 3 & 1,
Norah Roberts also came up short in the second matchup, 2 & 0.
Leah Skaar answered for the Bison securing the first point after picking up a 2 & 0 victory over Courtney Wedin. The two went back and forth until Skaar was able to open up a two-hole lead after a win on hole 14 to help secure the 2 & 0 victory.
Madi Hicks fought back from a three-hole deficit to all square after a win on hole 11. She then won the next three holes to help pick up the 3 & 1 win and added the second the point of the day for the Bison. However,
Elise Hoven went on to drop the final matchup, 4 & 3, after the two were square through the first seven.
