No. 6 Oregon State Sneaks Past NDSU Baseball, 6-5

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The North Dakota State baseball team dropped a 6-5 decision at No. 6 Oregon State on Friday night at Goss Stadium.

For the second straight night, the Bison (2-7) got off to a quick start after Sam Canton delivered a two-run double in the opening frame to make the score 2-0. The contest then went scoreless for three innings until James Dunlap hammered a two RBI home run down the left field line to stretch the lead to 4-0 in the fifth. Jack Steil finished out the big frame with an RBI single of his own to increase the advantage to 5-0 in the fifth frame.

Oregon State (9-1) added its first run in the fifth on a walk before erupting for five runs in seventh, including a three-run home run off the bat of Travis Bazzana to steal the lead, 6-5. Joey Danielson kept it a one-run game with three strikeouts to end the eighth, but the Bison couldn't get anything going in the ninth and dropped the contest, 6-5.

The Bison totaled 10 hits as a team with Cadyn Schwabe, Jake Schaffner and Canton each contributing two. It marked the fifth time this season NDSU has totaled at least 10 hits.
