Bison Lose to Southeastern Louisiana in Walk-Off Fashion, 11-10

HAMMOND, La. - Down to its final out in the bottom of the ninth, Southeastern Louisiana tied the game with a bad-hop base hit and won it on the next pitch to take the three-game weekend series with an 11-10 victory over North Dakota State on Sunday, March 10.

With runners on first and second, Christian Garcia's potential game-ending ground ball to third base bounced off the bag and over the head of NDSU's Jack Steil to score Gray Rowlett from second base and tie the game at 10. Pinch hitter Lakin Polk laced the first pitch he saw up the middle to score Dom Regira from second without a play.

That spoiled a wild comeback for NDSU (3-11), which took advantage of five walks, two hit batters, and two SLU errors to erase an 8-2 deficit by scoring eight runs in the eighth inning on one hit - a grand slam from Carson Hake, who homered twice in the contest. Hake finished 3-for-5 with five RBIs.

NDSU starter Landon Koenig worked five innings allowing four runs on six hits with no walks and three strikeouts in the no-decision. Joey Danielson, the sixth pitcher of the game for NDSU, started the ninth inning and got the first two outs before a hit batter and four straight singles won the game for SLU (11-6).

Cadyn Schwabe was 2-for-3 at the plate, and James Dunlap and Garret Hill each added hits for the Bison.

SLU's Shea Thomas, Ryan Brome and Jake Haze each had three hits, and Brome and Haze finished with three RBIs apiece. Larson Fabre held NDSU hitless over the final 1 1/3 innings to get the win.

North Dakota State continues its Louisiana road trip with a pair of midweek games Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon at second-ranked LSU.
