SEDONA, Ariz. – North Dakota State Women's Golf opened up the Red Rocks Invitational with +3 round in the first round on Saturday and sit in ninth as play was suspended in round two at the Oakcreek Country Club.
Norah Roberts led the Bison with an even par round of 72 to open up the day, while
Elise Hoven,
Leah Skaar and
Madi Hicks all shot +1 rounds of 73.
Roberts was bogey free on her first nine holes with two birdies in the first round. She then bogeyed her 10
th before answering right back with a birdie. She finished the first round with back-to-back bogeys, wrapping the round at even and in a tie for 11
th overall in the 115-golfer field.
Hoven, Skaar and Hicks all also carded three birdies in their first rounds with 11 pars. The trio sat tied for 17
th overall following 18 holes.
Catherine Monty shot a 78 in the first round to close the scoring for the Bison.
In the second round, Hicks, Roberts and Monty finished before play was suspended for darkness. Hicks had a birdie and 14 pars as she carded a 74 in the second round, closing the day at +3 and in a tie for 22
nd overall.
Roberts recorded two birdies in her second round with nine pars, as she finished with a 77. Roberts sits in a tie for 36
th overall at +5. Monty shot an 81 in the second round, carding nine pars.
Hoven and Skaar didn't finish their second rounds on Saturday, closing out the day with one hole to play. Hoven is +3 through 17 holes and sits at +4, in a tie for 32
nd overall. Skaar is +7 in her second round, and sits in a tie for 53
rd overall at +8.
The Bison currently sit ninth overall as a team in the 20-team field. Play is set to resume at 9:15 a.m. CT with the competition of the second round before the third and final round gets underway from Oakcreek Country Club.
