Joe Beschorner Named NDSU Special Teams Coordinator

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State University head football coach Tim Polasek on Thursday, April 18, named Joe Beschorner as NDSU's new special teams coordinator.

Beschorner joined the Bison football staff in January 2021 and was the running backs coach his first four seasons. He will be NDSU's tight ends and fullbacks coach in 2024.

He is assuming the special teams coordinator role from linebackers coach Grant Olson, who was named defensive coordinator in December.

As NDSU's running backs coach, Beschorner led a rushing attack that led the nation in rushing touchdowns three straight years, rushing yards two of the past three seasons, and ranked second in rushing yards per game (280.6) during the 2021 national championship season.

Beschorner was part of four conference championships and four NCAA playoff appearances in five seasons as the offensive coordinator at Minnesota State Mankato (2015-2019) before coming to NDSU. He was named Division II Coordinator of the Year in 2019 after the Mavericks led the division in scoring with 47.5 points per game and advanced to the national championship game.

He also spent seven years as the offensive coordinator at Simpson (2008-2014) and five years as the running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at South Dakota (2003-2007) after starting his coaching career at Minnesota State as a graduate assistant (2000-2001) and running backs coach (2002).
