NDSU Soccer Draws at St. Thomas 1-1

ST. PAUL, Minn. - North Dakota State soccer played out a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon against St. Thomas in Summit League play at South Field.
Morgan Russmann put the Bison (5-11-1, 1-5-1 Summit) in front late in the first half, converting her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 43rd minute. Devon Kavanagh recorded her second assist of the season, heading the ball into Russmann in the box, who turned and scored from close range.
The Tommies (3-8-4, 0-4-3 Summit) answered 10 minutes into the second half, when Emily McCarthy equalized in the 56th minute off a feed from Kenzie Jacobson on a counter attack following a set piece from the Bison in the offensive zone.
North Dakota State dominated the run of play. The Bison outshot St. Thomas 18-8, held 61 percent of possession and had a 14-3 edge in corner kicks. Russmann led the attack with six shots, including two on goal, while Amber Smith and Hannah Arnold each added three attempts. Goalkeeper Payton Mulberry made three saves in the draw for NDSU.
The Bison wrap up the regular season next week, making the longest trip of the Summit League schedule this season, traveling to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take on Oral Roberts. The Bison and Golden Eagles are set to meet on Thursday, October 23, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at Case Soccer Complex.
