NDSU Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Bethune-Cookman for Third Straight Win, 85-36

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Five Bison reached double digits in scoring as the North Dakota State women's basketball team rolled past Bethune-Cookman for its third straight win, 85-36, at the Osprey Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday afternoon at UNF Arena.
Avery Koenen led the way logging her 15th career double-double with a game-high 19 points and 12 rebounds. Marisa Frost also reached double figures for the third straight game with 16 points to go along with three rebounds. Jocelyn Schiller added 12 points with a season-high seven assists, game-best three steals and two rebounds. Karrington Asp (13) and Abby Graham (10) also posted double digits off the bench.
As a team, the Bison (5-2) netted a season-high 85 points and held Bethune-Cookman (1-6) to a season-low 36 points. It marks the lowest point total NDSU has held an opponent to since Jamestown scored 36 points on Dec. 19, 2021. NDSU shot 50.9 percent (29-57) from the field with nine different players reaching the scoring column.
NDSU used a quick start to open up a 21-6 lead in the first quarter after Schiller connected on a layup in the paint at the 3:02 mark. The Bison then stretched lead up to 20 in the second quarter and led at the intermission, 41-21.
NDSU started to put the game out of reach after outscoring Bethune-Cookman, 25-8, in the third quarter. The Bison limited to the Wildcats to 3-of-15 shooting from the field in the quarter after Bethune-Cookman missed on their first five attempts. NDSU went on to close out the contest over the final quarter for the 85-36 win.
NDSU will be back in action hosting Montana State for the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
