NDSU Wrestling Claims Three Titles at Dragon Open

MOORHEAD, Minn. – North Dakota State wrestling claimed three individual titles on Sunday at the Dragon Open hosted by Minnesota State University-Moorhead hosted inside Alex Nemzek Hall.

Ostin Blanchard, Porter Craig and Andrew McMonagle each won an individual title, going 3-0 on the day. Blachard recorded three wins by decision at 125 pounds, including a 5-1 win over fellow Bison Kody Tanimoto in the championship match.

Craig started off the event with back-to-back decisions at 157 pounds before defeating Minnesota State Moorhead's Damon Ferguson with a third-period fall in his final match. McMonagle started off with a tech fall at 184 pounds and then reeled off back-to-back decisions, including a win over South Dakota State's Jared Thiry in the championship match.

Along with Tanimoto's runner-up finish at 125, Lawson Eller also just had one defeat on the day, overcoming a narrow first round loss with four-straight bonus-point decisions to take third at 133 pounds. After a 4-2 defeat, Eller recorded three tech falls and a major decision.
