NDSU Men’s Golf Falls on Day Two in Arizona

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – North Dakota State men's golf dropped five spots on day two of the Loyola Intercollegiate on Monday at the Palm Valley Golf Club. The Bison sit in 12th in the 19-team field after the second of three rounds over three days in the Palm Valley Dessert.
Ian Simonich led the way for the Bison on the day, the only golfer to shoot under par. Simonich recorded two birdies and a bogey to fire a -1 round of 71 for the second-consecutive day. Simonich moved up one spot on the leaderboard, sitting in a tie for 20th overall.
Rylin Petry and Max Wilson, who is playing as an individual, each had rounds of even par on Monday. Petry finished with a team high four birdies on the day and carded 10 pars on the afternoon, as he moved up three places to sit in a tie for 42nd at +1 for the event. Wilson finished with two early birdies in his round, but also carded back-to-back bogeys to fall back to even par for the day. Wilson moved up 16 spots and sits in a tie for 57th at +3 in the 116-golfer field.
Jake Skarperud was third in scoring on the day for the Bison carding a 75, while Josh Galvin and Sean Moore rounded out the scoring with rounds of 76 on day two. Skarperud had one birdie on the day as he held firm in 85th with a +3 for the day and +7 overall for the event.
Galvin led the Bison on day one, but shot +4 on day two with three birdies. He carded a double and a triple bogey in the round to drop down to a tie for 50th at +2 for the event. Moore matched Petry with four birdies on the day, but also had a double and triple bogey in his round. Moore fell to a tie for 74th overall at +5 with 18 holes remaining.
The Bison will get back underway with the final round on Tuesday morning, set to tee off at 8:45 a.m. CT. NDSU is set to tee off on holes 9, 10, 11 and 12 to begin the final day.
