NDSU Men's Golf Finishes Eighth at UC San Diego Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The North Dakota State men's golf team finished mid-pack in eighth out of 20 teams at the UC San Diego Invitational at the world-renowned Torrey Pines.
Ian Simonich was the top Bison finisher after recording a 74 (+2) on the day. Simonich had five birdies in the final round to help him finish in a tie for fourth with a score of 220 (+4).
Rylin Petry tallied 14 pars and two birdies to finish with a 74 (+2) in the final round. Petry finished just outside of the top 10 in 13th place with a final mark of 223 (+7).
Jake Skarperud and Max Wilson were the final Bison scorers in the third round. Skarperud fired a 74 (+2) in the final round after sinking five birdies. Wilson had his best round of the tournament with the help of four birdies and shot 75 (+3) on the day. Skarperud finished with a final score of 229 (+13) in a tie for 45th place, and Wilson in 78th place in the 111-golfer field with a final score of 235 (+19).
Josh Galvin wrapped up the Bison golfers in the event, recording a 76 (+4) on the day and a 233 (+17) overall to finish in a tie for 69th place.
As a collective, the Bison finished in eighth after a +9 in the final round to finish with a final score of 904 (+40). New Mexico State took home the tournament title after posting a 283 (-5) on the day and a final score of 885 (+21). Arkansas State (887, +23) and UC Irvine (891, +27) rounded out the top three squads.
The men's team will get a week off before returning to action at the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate April 7-8. This event will be hosted by Florida Gulf Coast at the Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero, Florida.
