MARICOPA, Ariz. – The North Dakota State women's golf team finished mid-pack in a tie for eighth after the final round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Thursday afternoon.
Norah Roberts (75-72-75—222) led the way for the Bison with her third best score of the season. Roberts shot +3 on the day to end +6 in a tie for 13th place overall.
Elise Hoven (78-77-74—229) and
Cora Larson (81-76-74—231) each recorded a +2 in the final round to climb the leaderboard. Hoven moved up three spots to finish in a tie for 32nd place at +13, and Larson jumped four spots to finish in a tie for 37th place at +15.
Hannah Dunk (78-80-77—235) and
Madi Hicks (80-79-77—236) also tied scores in the final round after carding a +5. Dunk finished in a tie for 50th place at +19, and Hicks in a tie for 53rd place at +20.
Avery Bartels (78-81-75—234), who played as an individual, recorded her lowest round of the tournament after firing a +3 to climb seven spots and finish in a tie for 45th place in the 91-golfer field.
As a team, the Bison (311-304-300—915) shot +12 in the final round, marking their best round of the event to finish tied for eighth place with the host Wyoming (302-309-304—915). Iowa State (291-297-279—867) took the tournament title after finishing +3, with UNLV (302-287-286—875) taking second and Santa Clara (298-300-288—886) rounding out the top three.
The Bison will have a quick return to action on Monday at the Stampede at the Creek, which will be hosted by Omaha at Indian Creek Golf Course in Elkhorn, Neb.
