CAMARILLO, Calif. – Sophomore Avery Bartels led the North Dakota State women's golf team to a top five finish at the SoCal Spring Invitational at Sterling Hill Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.

Bartels (72-75-71—218) fired a third consecutive round with three birdies to finish at an even-par in the final round. The Oxbow, N.D., native climbed four spots up the leaderboard to land in a tie for 7th at +5 overall, marking her third top 10 finish of the season.

Madi Hicks (77-77-71—225) soared 19 places up the leaderboard after the final round of play. Hicks was even through the first 11 holes and logged back-to-back birdies on hole 12 and hole 13 to finish even on the day. The senior finished +12 overall in a tie for 23rd.

Norah Roberts (76-72-76—224) narrowly missed finishing within the top 20, landing in 22nd at +11 overall. Roberts added two birdies and nine holes at par to finish +5 in the third round.

Cora Larson (80-78-75—233) was the final scoring golfer for NDSU in the final round, logging her best round of the tournament. Larson shot a team-high 13 holes at par and picked up a birdie on hole 12 to finish +4 on the day, and +20 overall in a tie for 57th.

Hannah Dunk (78-74-77—229) and Jeri Lafleche (82-74-78—234) conclude the Bison competing at the event. Dunk, who played as an individual, finished +6 in the last round with a birdie on hole 12 to end in a tie for 38th at +16. Lafleche recorded a round of +7 with a birdie on the fourth hole to place 60th at +21.

As a team, the Bison (305-298-293—896) carded their lowest round of the tournament of +9 to climb one spot into a three-way tie for fifth place. NDSU tied with Memphis (320-289-287—896) and Murray State (307-293-296—896) at +44.

The Bison will have a full week off before heading down to Arizona for the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate. Hosted by Minnesota, the event will take place at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Ariz. on March 23-24.
