Roberts, Hicks Lead El Campeon Collegiate on Day One

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Norah Roberts and Madi Hicks are slotted in first and second place after the first day of competition as NDSU sits in second place at the El Campeon Collegiate at Mission Inn Resort on Monday.

NDSU played through 14 holes in the second round before play was suspended until tomorrow.

Roberts is currently leading the 69-golfer field after finishing +1 in the first round of the event. The junior logged a birdie on hole three and 15 holes at par in the first round. Through her first 13 holes of the second round, Roberts has carded three birdies and five holes at an even par.

Hicks is just behind in second place after recording a score of +3 in round one. Hicks logged three birdies and was even through 11 holes. The senior is also through 13 holes of the second round and has currently recorded one birdie and eight holes at par.

Freshman Jeri Lafleche is in fourth place going into the final day. Lafleche, who is playing as an individual, finished +8 in the first round and is +3 through 14 holes of round two after tabbing three birdies in the back nine.

Lily Vincelli, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 11th place. She carded a round of +7 and is currently +6 through 13 holes of the second round. Cora Larson shot +5 in the first round and is +12 through 13 holes in round two to sit in 16th place.

Avery Bartels finished round one +11 and is +10 through 13 of round two, locked in a tie for 25th place. Bella Leonhart and Hannah Dunk wrap up the Bison competing at the event. Leonhart, who is the final individual in the tournament, finished round one +13 and is currently +9 through 14 holes of the second round. Dunk recorded a round of +11 after the first 18-holes and is +13 through 13 holes of the middle round.

As a team, NDSU is in second place in the 11-team field. The Bison finished +20 after the first round and are just three shots behind the leaders Longwood at +49 through most of the second round.

The Bison will resume the second round of play, and conclude with the final round of play, on Tuesday morning.
