GOODYEAR, Ariz. –
Avery Bartels holds onto the leader position to pace the North Dakota State women's golf team through 36-holes of the Bobcat Desert Classic at the Golf Club of Estrella on Tuesday afternoon.
Bartels (67-75—142) is tied for the lead at -2 after the second day of play. The sophomore carded two birdies in the front nine and 12 holes at par to finish +3 in the middle round.
Jeri Lafleche (72-71—143) sits tied for sixth place after the second round of play. Lafleche was even through her first 11 holes and added two birdies in the back half to finish the round -1. The freshman climbed two spots up the leaderboard at -1 heading into the final day.
Hannah Dunk (71-77—148) and
Bella Leonhart (75-74—149) are both slated inside the top 25 after the first 36 holes. Dunk, who is playing as an individual, tallied 13 pars on the day to finish +5, and is tied for 20
th at +4 overall. Leonhart, who is also playing as an individual, added three more birdies to record a career-low round of +2. Leonhart climbed five spots up the leaderboard to sit in a tie for 23rd at +5 overall.
Madi Hicks (76-74—150) is positioned just outside the top 25 going into the final round of play. Hicks was even through 12 holes on the day and picked up two more birdies to finish +2 for the round, landing in a tie for 29th at +6.
Norah Roberts (79-75—154) improved by four shots from round one to record the final scoring round for NDSU. Roberts carded a birdie on hole nine with 13 holes at par to finish +3, soaring 17 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 41st at +10.
Cora Larson (76-80—156) is the final Bison golfer at the event. Larson finished +8 in round two to settle in a tie for 53rd at +12.
The Bison (291-295—586) climbed one spot after the second round and are tied for third heading into the final day. NDSU recorded a round of +7 to tie with Utah Tech (297-289—586) with one round to play.
