NDSU Wrestling Closes Home Schedule with Win Over Air Force

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State wrestling closed out the home schedule and picked up a 23-15 victory over Air Force in Big 12 action Sunday afternoon at the Scheels Center inside the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.
Senior #32 Tristan Daugherty picked up the first win for the Bison on his senior day, using a first-period takedown to top Gavin Caprella 4-2 in the 133-pound dual.
The Bison picked up back-to-back major decisions at 149 and 157 pounds, beginning with a 14-3 win by #21 Max Petersen over Bryce Shelton. Gavin Drexler then picked up a 14-6 win over EJ Beloncik to put the Bison in front 11-9.
Following a loss at 165 in the second tie breaker, the Bison reeled off three-straight wins to secure the dual. Max Magayna began the stretch with a 5-1 win over Gunner Cramblett at 174 pounds, before #29 Aidan Brenot secured a major decision with a 9-1 win over Brian Burburija.
At 197 pounds, #33 Devin Wasley secured the dual victory with a tech fall over Owen Heiser for his seventh-straight dual win. Wasley had three takedowns and a pair of four-point near falls in the 19-3 victory.
North Dakota State heads back on the road and begins a three-week stretch away from home to wrap up the regular season. NDSU will travel to Utah Valley and Wyoming next week. The Bison will wrestle Utah Valley on February 6 in Orem with an 8 p.m. CT start, before taking on Wyoming in Laramie on February 8 at 2 p.m. CT
