GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Seniors
Jake Skarperud and
Rylin Petry led the Bison through the second round of play at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club on Monday afternoon.
Skarperud (71-71—142) carded the only round below par for the Bison on day two. The Fargo native logged five birdies and nine holes at par to finish -1 for the second consecutive day. Skarperud is locked in a tie for 25
th at -2 heading into the final round.
Petry (70-73—143) is just behind in a tie for 30
th at -1 overall. Petry recorded birdies on the 14
th and 17
th holes and shot an even-par on 13 holes to finish +1 on day two.
Carter White (75-72—147) and
Gabe Benson (75-74—149) wrapped up the scoring Bison for the second round. White fired a team-high six birdies and was -3 in the back nine to improve his round one score by three strokes. The freshman climbed two spots up the leaderboard and sits at +3 heading into the final round. Benson logged birdies on holes one and two was even through 12 holes to finish +2 on the round and +5 after 36-holes.
Andrew Ballou (72-78—150) and
Max Wilson (78-73—151) are the last golfers for NDSU. Ballou finished +6 on the day and is +6 overall heading into the final round. Wilson, who is playing as an individual, recorded a team-high 14 holes at par and birdies on the ninth and 16
th holes, improving his round one score by five shots to end +1 on the day and +7 overall.
NDSU will finish competing at the Loyola Intercollegiate on Tuesday morning. The Bison are slated to tee off at 9:45 a.m. CT.
