Reckelberg Wins Summit League Long Jump Title on Day One

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota State freshman Carter Reckelberg won the conference title in the long jump to headline the first day of competition for the Bison men at the Summit League Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday.
 
Reckelberg captured first place with a jump of 24-07.75 (7.51m), as the Bison men finished 1-3-4-7 in the long jump. Zach McGlynn took third at 24-03.75 (7.41m), Reece Grosserode was fourth at 23-07.25 (7.19m), and Lucas McNichols finished seventh with a mark of 23-04.00 (7.11m).
 
The Bison men lead the team standings after five events with 61 points. South Dakota State is second with 47.
 
Aaron Cummings and McGlynn tied for second in the pole vault, with both clearing 17-03.50 (5.27m). For Cummings, it was a new personal-best that ranks him fourth in NDSU indoor history.
 
Kaden Pastian claimed Summit League runner-up honors in the weight throw, posting a personal-best of 67-04.00 (20.52m) to move up to No. 6 all-time at NDSU.
 
Jack Packer took fifth in the weight throw with a personal-best 61-00.75 (18.61m), and Aiden Krause placed sixth with a personal-best 59-04.00 (18.08m).
 
Carl Rekow finished sixth in the 3000m, running 8:26.16.
 
Will Gerber, Ramon Duran, Jonah Dafoe and Quinn Roehl took third in the distance medley relay, running 9:54.54 for the third-fastest time in school history.
 
In addition to the events that were completed on Friday, the Bison men are positioned to score well in Saturday's finals.
 
Paul Olson leads the Summit League heptathlon after Day 1, scoring 3,193 points. Owen Angell stands fourth with 2,770, and Trey Knoke is in fifth with 2,685.
 
Jeran McNichols (season-best 6.79) and Jayden Murdock (season-best 6.91) both qualified for the 60m dash final.
 
Zackery Bruder (48.15) and Gabe Miles (48.99) both advanced to the 400m dash final. Kaleb Foltz was the fastest qualifier to the 800m final, running 1:50.77 in the prelims.
 
Freshmen Joshua Kyei-Baffour (8.01) and Trey Knoke (8.13) qualified for the final in the 60m hurdles.
